About SonCaribe Latin Dance

SonCaribe Latin Dance is a dance studio located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, offering Latin dance classes for every body, every background, and every skill level. The studio teaches salsa, bachata, and merengue, with classes led by people who grew up dancing these styles.

The studio has a patient and beginner-first approach, with an 8-week cycle of classes that focus on building confidence and technique. Classes are held on Wednesdays and Thursdays at AFAS, with socials held on second Saturdays. Beginners are welcome, and no partner or experience is required.

SonCaribe Latin Dance also offers cultural trips to destinations such as Cali, Santo Domingo, and Havana, where students can learn from local dancers and experience the music and culture firsthand. The studio aims to create a community, not just a class, where students can connect with others and build friendships.

The studio's founder and lead instructor, Luis De La Cruz, is a Caribbean kid who learned to dance before he learned to read. He started SonCaribe because he wanted to create a space where complete beginners could feel welcome and included. The studio's approach is focused on teaching people how to feel the music, rather than just following steps.

SonCaribe Latin Dance is located at 630 North Liberty Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101, and offers a range of classes and socials for dancers of all levels. The studio can be contacted through their website or social media channels, and they also have a newsletter that provides updates on upcoming events and classes.
